Jakob Nielsen is a big name in the usability & user experience area. He is the co-founder of ‘Nielson Norman Group’, a well-known consulting & research firm specializing in user experience and usability (the other co-founder, Don Norman, is also a big guy in this filed, who wrote a couple of popular books like ‘The Design of Everyday Things’ and ‘Emotional Design’). Once Nielson proposed 10 general golden rules, or heuristics, for user interface design. Though this set of rules was from decades ago, they seem to remain valued for nowadays.
